PoGB polls under shadow as manipulation allegations mount against Pakistan
Apr 17, 2026
Human rights advocate and President of the Institute for Gilgit-Baltistan Studies, Senge Sering, has raised serious concerns over alleged irregularities in the electoral process in Pakistan-occupied Gilgit-Baltistan (PoGB). He claims that elections in the region are not conducted under any consistent legal framework. According to him, polls are frequently delayed on various grounds, after which an interim government is installed—often comprising individuals backed by the Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI). These interim setups then control the administrative system for extended periods.
