PoJK sees massive uprising against Islamabad's Inaction
Oct 07, 2025
Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir recently witnessed widespread protests and shutdowns, as public frustration erupted over Islamabad’s failure to address long-standing demands. Led by the Joint Awami Action Committee, the demonstrations drew thousands across key areas, sparking national and international concern. The situation turned tense in several areas as security forces opened fire on peaceful protesters, resulting in multiple fatalities and injuries. As the unrest drew attention, the issue was raised in Geneva at the UN Human Rights Council. Leaders of the United Kashmir People's National Party accused Pakistan of muzzling voices in the region and militarising civil spaces. With discontent turning into defiance, the streets of Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir have delivered a verdict — one that exposes the ugly reality behind Islamabad’s lofty rhetoric of "brotherhood" and "solidarity." What the world is witnessing is not an isolated protest — it's the eruption of decades of betrayal, economic exploitation, political disenfranchisement, and brutal repression under the watch of a state that has turned PoJK into a militarised zone of silence.
