Feb 26, 2026
Ahmedabad, Gujarat In a strong example of inclusive governance, Gujarat Police, in partnership with an NGO, is transforming the lives of children from the de-notified Chhara community in Ahmedabad. What was once known as an “open jail” in Kubernagar has now become the Vimukta Reform Centre - a vibrant open school for dropouts. Recently, under the Suraksha Setu Project, Ahmedabad Police also inaugurated a dedicated children’s library here, reinforcing education as a tool for change. The Vimukta Trust plays a key role in uplifting the community, focusing not just on infrastructure but on holistic development - through education, mentorship, skill-building, and confidence-building initiatives. Beyond academics, students are exposed to theatre, drama, and value-based learning. Creative expression is helping them build discipline, communication skills, and emotional resilience.
