Preparation underway for manufacturing of two more Vande Bharat Trains in Chennai

Chennai, May 28 (ANI): Preparation is underway at Integral Coach Factory (ICF) in Chennai for manufacturing of two more Vande Bharat trains. The first Vande Bharat Express train was flagged off on February 15 on the New Delhi-Kanpur-Allahabad-Varanasi route. After Prime Minister’s announcement, Integral Coach Factory has planned to turnout 75 trains by August 23. “After PM's announcement, ICF planned to turnout 75 trains by August 23. First 2 prototypes will be out before August 15, 2022. There'll be a trial. Based on it, we’ll do further production,” said Atul Agarwal, General Manager, ICF, Chennai. “Train will also offer GPS-based system to know where is it reaching, among other facilities. Except some small parts, everything else on it is make in India. We are also providing Automatic Train Protection System. Safety is paramount for us,” he added. “They will offer automatic main door at entry operated only by pilot, sensor doors for passenger’s entry into compartment, reclining chairs in executive class and AC chair car and more space for luggage. It is a modern train and a step towards self-reliance,” Rajiv Jain, Additional Director General (ADG), Indian Railways.
