Punjab CM Charanjit Channi tenders resignation to Governor

Chandigarh, Mar 11 (ANI): After Congress suffered massive defeat in the recently-concluded Punjab Assembly Elections, outgoing Chief Minister Charanjit S Channi tendered his resignation to the Governor on March 11. While addressing media persons, he said, “I have given my resignation to the Governor. He told me and the cabinet to continue until the new government is sworn in. I accept the people's mandate. We will always be there to serve the people of Punjab. We will continue doing our duty and be among them. I request the new government to continue the public welfare projects and schemes that we brought in, in the last 111 days.” The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) won 92 seats in the 117-member Assembly, leaving the Congress with only 18 seats.
