Rationalisation complete, more than 24,000 polling booths established, informs Punjab CEO

Chandigarh, December 30 (ANI): The Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) of Punjab, Dr S Karuna Raju on December 30 talked about the preparations ahead of the Punjab Assembly elections 2022. More than 24,000 booths have been established for a total of 2.12 crore voters. He said that the rationalisation of all the polling stations is complete whereas the voting list preparations are on its final stage. “Up to 80 per cent of Returning Officers and Asst. Returning Officers have already received RO Certification courses, while the rest will receive it between January 3 to 6,” he further added. The officer informed that they also focussed to add more transgender persons to the voters list. With COVID-19 threat on rise, he further focussed on the involvement of the Health Department and Pollution Control Board and their contribution for a COVID-19 safe voting. “All poll parties must be vaccinated, and all COVID-related bio-waste material will be disposed off properly. We will also work on noise pollution,” the officer informed.
