Robbers arrested, used digital payment apps to rob cab driver

New Delhi, December 10(ANI): Delhi Police has arrested three robbers including a juvenile, who robbed a cab driver using the UPI interface. The complainant cab driver reported to the police that three persons booked his taxi through online services to commute from Nehru Vihar to Greater Noida. Passengers paid him the fare through a reputed digital mobile wallet. They kept on sitting in the cab of the complainant as they informed him that one of their friends was coming and needed to wait. After about 10 minutes, the passengers asked him to drop them back to Nehru Vihar Mor, Timarpur, Delhi. After reaching Nehru Vihar Mor, passengers requested him to drop them near their house. While approaching a deserted place, one of the passengers pointed out Deshi Katta upon the complainant and threatened him for dire consequences and they snatched his mobile and forcefully transferred the total Rs 20,700 into a digital mobile Wallet of another company. Acting on the complaint, Police collected details of the digital mobile wallets of the complainant and suspects and analysed. On the basis of that, the police team arrested one accused Manish from Barsana, Mathura, UP, within 24 hours. Further, at the instance of the accused Manish, the Police team also apprehended his associate Ravi, a history-sheeter and one juvenile. The weapon of offence one desi katta with two live cartridges was recovered from them. Rs 6,000 part of the digitally robbed amount was also recovered from the culprits.
