SECL leads green transformation in coal sector
Jun 07, 2025
Description: Bhatgaon [India], June 7 (ANI): South Eastern Coalfields Limited (SECL), a major Coal India subsidiary, aims to become a net-zero company by 2030, aligning with the country’s clean energy goals. Central to this plan is expanding solar energy use. SECL already operates a 20 MW solar plant in Bhatgaon town of Chhattisgarh, producing clean power and reducing emissions from traditional sources. While continuing coal production, SECL is investing in cleaner coal technologies like coal gasification to reduce pollution. The company is also improving logistics and mining by cutting diesel use — replacing trucks with First Mile Connectivity systems and using conveyors and mechanised dispatch at coal handling plants to minimise environmental impact.
