Semicon India 2025: 20 student-designed chips unveiled, Billion-Dollar deep-tech alliance launched

New Delhi, Sept 02 (ANI): Union Minister of Electronics & Information Technology, Ashwini Vaishnaw says, "... We started off in December 2021. The actual launch was on 1 January 2022. Within such a short time, we have the first pilot line of CG semi starting production now. I presented the first made-in-India chip from this pilot line to the Prime Minister today. Three more pilot lines are on the verge of completion in the coming months, and production will start soon. This is a big milestone for our semiconductor industry... As we go forward, the other projects which were approved are also making rapid progress... The permits for the first few projects were given in 100 days... An entire ecosystem has come to our country... We all feel very confident about our journey, and we feel that the way semiconductor mission has performed under Prime Minister's guidance is something which gives them a lot of confidence. Design capabilities are exemplary, and the world is appreciating the large talent development program that we have taken to 78 universities. Today we presented 20 chips which are designed by students and manufactured in the SCL Mohali facility... An India deep-tech alliance has been formed. This will be an alliance for which close to a billion dollars have already been committed to. This will begin with semiconductors and will get into many deep-tech ventures that require venture capital for growth and development.
