Shutdown call in Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir amid growing public Anger
Sep 23, 2025
PoJK, 23 September 2025: Tensions are escalating in Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir, where leaders of the Joint Awami Action Committee have called for a complete shutdown on September 29. The call comes in response to deep-rooted grievances over basic infrastructure, education inequality, and government neglect. Residents are particularly angry over the treatment of students from the region. Despite scoring high marks and facing tough conditions, many students are being denied access to higher education due to a controversial quota system. People in the region are also demanding basic healthcare, better schools, safer roads, and essential services. But their demands, they say, are met only with excuses. With public anger deepening, and a history of crackdowns in the region, the situation remains volatile.
