Srinagar’s Achan dumping site gets modern technology to improve decomposing process

Srinagar, Sept 03, 2026 (ANI): J&K govt has been committed to improving decomposing process with modern technology at Achan Dumping site in Srinagar. Achan dumping site is city’s primary municipal solid waste disposal facility, located in Shadipora and Achan areas on northern outskirts. Everyday, hundreds of sweepers, labourers and drivers collect tons of garbage from the whole city and dump it on the site. Srinagar Municipal Corporation announced modernisation efforts under Swachh Bharat Mission to clear legacy waste mounds and shift to scientific waste management. They have introduced anti-odor sprays, bio-mining projects and other ways to curb environmental degradation.
