Study: Elliptical craters shed light on the age of Saturn's moons

New Delhi, June 25 (ANI): According to a recent study, distinct populations of craters on two of Saturn's moons may provide clues about the age and conditions of the moons' genesis. Tethys and Dione, two of Saturn's moons, were surveyed for this study using information from NASA's Cassini spacecraft. A wide variety of impact conditions can result in the formation of circular craters, which are quite prevalent. The shape and position of elliptical craters, on the other hand, are more uncommon and result from slow and shallow impacts, making them particularly helpful in establishing an object's age.
