Tasleema Akhter Draws Contrast Between PoJK and J&K

Jammu and Kashmir socio-political activist Tasleema Akhter drew a contrast at the UN Human Rights Council between the situation in Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir (PoJK) and development in Jammu and Kashmir, the Union Territory of India. She raised concerns over internet restrictions, the detention of journalists and activists, and violence during protests in PoJK. In contrast, she highlighted peace, tourism, skill development, employment opportunities and government support for young entrepreneurs in Indian J&K. Akhter also called for international attention and accountability over alleged human rights violations in PoJK.
