Patna (Bihar), April 10 (ANI): Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar’s close aide and Janata Dal United JD(U) leader Upendra Kushwaha on April 09, said that Asoka Jayanti was declared a public holiday in the state much before CM Nitish was in power with support of the BJP. “I read yesterday that a political leader claimed that public holiday (on Asoka Jayanti) was declared by Bihar Government only after special efforts by a party. Don't know if he knows about things. When it was declared, Government was not being run in alliance with BJP,” he said. “JD(U) was running Government under a different alliance then. Leader of the then Government, Nitish Kumar, had declared it at that time. If someone gives such statements, they should know that JD(U) was in a different alliance in 2015 and this was declared in 2015-16,” he added. The leader was speaking at Samrat Ashok Jayanti Samaroh organised by his party in Patna city.
