U.S., Brazil Look to India to Drive Direct-to-Mobile’s Next Phase at IBC 2026

Amsterdam, the Netherlands, September 14 (ANI): India could play a pivotal role in scaling Direct-to-Mobile (D2M) technology globally, with broadcast leaders from the U.S. and Brazil highlighting the country’s market size, device ecosystem and semiconductor ambitions at IBC 2026. Raymundo Barros, CTO, Globo, said India, alongside the U.S., Brazil and South Korea, could create the scale needed to build a global D2M ecosystem. “If we collaborate, we can make the ecosystem happen,” he said. Mark Aitken, President/SVP, ONE Media/Sinclair, called India the potential “catalyst” for D2M, saying markets need certainty and commitment. He noted that India’s 1.4-billion-person market could encourage manufacturers to develop D2M-enabled phones, tablets and other devices.
