Mumbai, Aug 18, 2026 (ANI): Maharashtra CM Devendra Fadnavis called meeting with US Ambassador Sergio Gor a very productive discussion. “The Indo-American Chamber of Commerce held its National Convention in Mumbai today. In this context, I also held a meeting with the US Ambassador to India, Sergio Gor. We discussed potential areas for collaboration within our strategic alliance—specifically sectors where America excels, such as technology, education, universities, data centers, and semiconductors. We had extensive discussions on how investments in these fields could be channeled into India, and specifically into Maharashtra. I believe it was a very productive discussion, and we intend to take this initiative forward…,” said Devendra Fadnavis. On PM Modi being invited to inaugurate the Pune Metro, he says, "When I met the Prime Minister yesterday, I mentioned that the Pune Metro line connecting Shivajinagar to Hinjawadi is nearing completion; we are in a position to open a major section of it. Testing is currently underway, and the inauguration is planned once testing concludes. That is why I extended an advance invitation to the Prime Minister, and I am very hopeful that he will attend…,” he added. On action being taken by Maharashtra FDA, he says, "I believe excellent action is being taken. First and foremost, food adulteration or any violation of food safety standards endangers people's lives and well-being. Strict action was necessary, and that is exactly what is happening. I am very pleased with these measures, and this course of action will continue…,” he added. “If we look at the figures, Maharashtra’s economy ranks 20th globally. In other words, had Maharashtra been an independent nation, it would have stood as the 20th largest economy in the world. We are delighted that India has become the fourth-largest economy under Modi ji's leadership, with Maharashtra playing a crucial role in this achievement. I believe that if our current growth trajectory continues, we will surpass the economies of both Singapore and the UAE within the next two years…,” he added.
