Villagers exposed to toxic gases in Jharkhand’s Jharia fear for their lives

Dhanbad (Jharkhand), Dec 13 (ANI): Poisonous gases continue to emanate from ground caused by burning coal in Jharkhand’s Jharia. Villagers living on the outskirts Dhanbad are prone to life threatening diseases. Diseases like tuberculosis and asthma are prevalent in the area. Coal mines are burning since more than a decade and poisonous Carbon Monoxide has affected lives adversely. Jharia Rehabilitation and Development Authority was constituted for affected villages, however, the program is moving with a very slow pace.
