Weaving industry hit badly by pandemic in Madurai

Madurai (Tamil Nadu), Aug 08 (ANI): The Sellur handloom industry which produces export quality towels, handkerchief and other items is suffering due to COVID pandemic. This sector comprises of at least workforce of 1000 people predominantly women. The industry provided earning for workers of Rs120-150 per day but after the COVID restrictions, it had stopped. The poor workers have urged the government to provide them relief of Rs 5000 to help them to meet ends.
