Yokohama Brings Cities Together for Circular Economy Action

Yokohama City hosted the Asia Pacific Circular Economy Forum, bringing cities together to strengthen cooperation and accelerate circular economy action. Under Yokohama’s leadership, the Asia Circular Cities Declaration expanded to 43 cities across 11 countries. The initiative draws on Yokohama’s experience of reducing waste through strong citizen participation. Representatives highlighted the need for greater cooperation among cities, private companies and international organizations to implement circular solutions faster. Yokohama is also preparing for Green Expo 2027, which will focus on environmentally responsible development and reuse of facilities from the 2025 Osaka Expo. The city aims to build stronger international partnerships and advance practical circular economy measures across the Asia-Pacific region.
