PIL filed in Gauhati HC challenging transportation of 4 elephants to Gujarat

Guwahati (Assam), Jun 25 (ANI): Gauhati High Court on Monday took up a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) filed by animal activists challenging Assam government’s decision to transport four juvenile elephants from Tinsukia to Ahmedabad in Gujarat. The petitioners contended that the state government’s decision was in violation of the Wildlife (Protection) Act, 1972, and relevant orders of the Supreme Court in this regard.
