Bengaluru Rural Police arrest 25-year-old man over alleged contact with international radicalised individual

Bengaluru (Karnataka) [India], August 23 : Bengaluru Rural District Police have arrested a 25-year-old man from Doddaballapura for allegedly being in contact with an international anti-social and radicalised individual through Instagram, police said.
According to an official statement issued by the Office of the Superintendent of Police, Bengaluru Rural District, on August 20 at around 11 am, personnel from Doddaballapura Town Police Station were gathering information in the Islampur area when they received information regarding the alleged social media communication.
Police were informed that a local resident was allegedly in contact with an international anti-social and radicalised individual through Instagram.
Acting on the information, police brought Syed Abubakar to the station for questioning and registered a complaint. A case has been registered at Doddaballapura Town Police Station under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
The accused, a 25-year-old AC technician and resident of Doddaballapura Town, has been arrested and remanded to judicial custody.
Police said further investigation is underway to identify and trace the alleged radicalised individual with whom the accused was reportedly communicating through the social media platform.
