Billy Porter arrives at the Met Gala on a litter carried by men

May 07, 2019

Washington D.C. [USA], May 7 : Lady Gaga wasn't the only one who pulled off a dramatic Met Gala arrival. American actor and singer Billy Porter too pulled off the most dramatic red carpet look ever!
Porter stole the show at this year's mega event when he entered draped in gold and was carried on a velvet litter by six shirtless men wearing shiny gold pants and headpieces.
Porter sported a spectacular custom "Sun God" ensemble by The Blonds which included a bejewelled catsuit outfitted with 10-foot wings and a 24-karat gold headpiece. He completed his look with wearing custom gold glitter 'Atlanta' boots by Giuseppe Zanotti, reported People.

After stepping onto the red carpet the 49-year-old star spread his wings and posed for the shutterbugs.

Porter is no stranger to stealing the limelight on a red carpet and is particularly fond of good capes and unique outfits. In a recent interview with New York Magazine's The Cut as cited by People, he revealed that he hired stylist Sam Ratelle last March to bump up his style and started shopping more freely on his own.
"I went and dropped so much money at Rick Owens. That was the beginning for me: the Rick Owens platform boot. There's femininity inside of it, but there's also a strength to it," he said.
He loved the boots so much that he wore them under his dress at the Oscars 2019.
"My authenticity was a liability for me for a long time. And I got used to it. I got fine with it, whatever that was. But I got to a place where I had to tell it. We cannot be silent. That's what I learned from Pose, my friends, and that era. I had to be honest. I had to be real," he added.
His dramatic makeup is done by British makeup artist Pat McGrath, reported CNN.
Every year, the gala welcomes a few new faces. This year, those will include Styles (in Gucci!) and the iconic drag queen RuPaul
The gala is being held inside New York City's Metropolitan Museum of Art.
