Census 2027 theme song sung by late Zubeen Garg launched at Directorate of Census Operations in Assam

Guwahati (Assam) [India], August 7 : The Directorate of Census Operations (DCO), Assam, launched the official Census 2027 Theme Song at a programme held in Amingaon, Kamrup district.
The event, held on Thursday, marked another significant milestone in the public awareness campaign for Census 2027, aimed at encouraging citizens across the state to actively participate in the Census process.
The programme commenced with the ceremonial lighting of the lamp as a tribute to the legendary singer, late Zubeen Garg, whose soulful rendition of the Census 2027 Theme Song will continue to inspire and resonate with the people of Assam.
The Theme Song has been sung by the late Zubeen Garg and written by Pankaj Chakravarty, ACS, District Commissioner, Kokrajhar, whose thoughtful lyrics beautifully convey the spirit of Census 2027 and the importance of every individual's participation in nation-building.
Speaking on the occasion, the dignitaries highlighted the immense contribution of late Zubeen Garg to the cultural and social fabric of Assam. They observed that his voice has touched millions of hearts and that his association with the Census 2027 awareness campaign would leave a lasting impact by inspiring citizens to participate wholeheartedly in this national exercise.
They also appreciated the meaningful lyrics penned by Pankaj Chakravarty, ACS, which effectively communicate the significance of the Census in the country's development and planning.
Addressing the gathering, Biswajit Pegu, IAS, Director, Directorate of Census Operations, Assam, emphasised that the Theme Song would serve as a powerful medium to create awareness among the public and motivate people to participate in Census 2027.
He urged all stakeholders to extend their wholehearted support in ensuring the successful conduct of the Census across Assam.
The programme was graced by Partha Pegu, ACS, Census Nodal Officer and Additional Secretary, General Administration Department, Government of Assam; Pankaj Chakravarty, ACS, District Commissioner, Kokrajhar; and Garima Saikia Garg, wife of the late Zubeen Garg.
The Directorate of Census Operations, Assam, expressed its heartfelt gratitude to the family of late Zubeen Garg, particularly Garima Saikia Garg, for their support and presence on the occasion.
The Directorate also acknowledged the invaluable contribution of Pankaj Chakravarty, ACS, in conceptualising and writing the Theme Song.
The event concluded with the official launch and screening of the Census 2027 Theme Song in the presence of officers and officials of the Directorate.
