Congress misusing Himachal Pradesh's government machinery for November 1 rally: Himachal BJP co-incharge

Oct 26, 2026

Palampur (Himachal Pradesh) [India], October 26 : Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Himachal Pradesh Co-Incharge and Rajya Sabha MP Darshana Singh on Monday attended an important organisational meeting of the BJP Palampur district as the chief guest. The meeting focused on strengthening the party organisation, increasing booth-level activities and preparing for upcoming programmes.
Addressing the meeting, Singh criticised the Congress over its proposed rally in Delhi concerning the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls. She alleged that the Congress, frustrated by repeated electoral defeats, was attempting to create confusion among the public over the electoral revision process.
She further alleged that the Congress government in Himachal Pradesh was misusing government machinery and public resources to mobilise support for the proposed Delhi rally.
Referring to the recent press conference held by Congress leaders in Shimla, Singh said that the party was attempting to politicise the SIR process instead of presenting its policies and achievements before the people.
She maintained that political parties should respect the constitutional role of the Election Commission rather than making allegations that could undermine public confidence in democratic institutions.
Darshana Singh emphasised that the BJP firmly believes that every eligible Indian citizen must be included in the electoral rolls and that the voting rights of no eligible voter should be compromised.
She stated that transparency, accuracy and fairness in electoral rolls are essential for strengthening democracy and ensuring the integrity of the electoral process.
Accusing the Congress of adopting double standards, Singh referred to the appointment of former Chief Election Commissioner MS Gill as a Union Minister during the Congress-led government.
She said that Congress leaders should examine their own political record before questioning the functioning and independence of the Election Commission.
Turning towards the October 30 Dharamshala march, Darshana Singh announced that approximately 3,000 BJP workers and citizens from the Palampur organisational district would participate in the party's “Save Democracy, Remove Anarchy” (Loktantra Bachao, Arajkata Hatao) Padyatra, scheduled to take place in Dharamshala on October 30.
She said the march would highlight issues concerning the protection of democratic values, law and order, and other matters of public interest in Himachal Pradesh.
During the meeting, detailed discussions were also held regarding preparations for the padyatra, participation of party workers, coordination among mandals and booths, and the allocation of organisational responsibilities.
Singh urged party office-bearers to complete all preparations within the stipulated timeframe and ensure effective coordination at every organisational level.
She stated that BJP workers form the backbone of the organisation and that continuous public outreach, active participation and strong booth-level coordination are essential for strengthening the party.
The meeting was attended by Sulah MLA and former Himachal Pradesh Assembly Speaker Vipin Singh Parmar, BJP Senior Spokesperson Trilok Kapoor, District Incharge Vinod Thakur, District Co-Incharge Pankaj Jamwal, former Baijnath MLA Mulkh Raj Premi, and Kangra District Co-Incharge Sanjeev Sharma, along with other party office-bearers and workers.
