Karnal (Haryana) [India], August 23 : Yoga guru Baba Ramdev on Sunday said the Gurukul movement aims to contribute to the upliftment of India by promoting education, healthcare and yoga, while combining Vedic knowledge with modern science and technology.
He inaugurated the Gurukul hostel complex at Khurd in Haryana and said that the facility aims to enable hundreds of students to pursue modern science and technology alongside Vedic knowledge.
Addressing the gathering, Ramdev said the initiative aims to contribute to nation-building by focusing on education and character development.
"Today, a major new Gurukul hostel complex has been inaugurated here in Khurd; hundreds of students will now be able to study modern science and technology alongside Vedic knowledge," Ramdev said.
He said the initiative was part of a broader movement focused on education, healthcare, the economy and yoga.
Ramdev also highlighted the need for transformation in agriculture and character-building, saying these efforts would contribute to the overall development of the country.
"This is the movement: a movement for education, healthcare, the economy, and yoga. It encompasses revolutions in agriculture, character-building, and nation-building - transformations aimed at uplifting the country in every sphere," he said.
The new Gurukul facility is expected to provide students with an educational environment combining traditional Indian knowledge systems with contemporary learning in science and technology.
