"I find it laughable": Union Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan on Rahul Gandhi’s BJP ‘expiry date’ remark

Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh) [India], October 19 : Union Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan on Monday criticised Lok Sabha Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi’s remark predicting an ‘expiry date’ for the BJP, calling it 'laughable'.
“I find it laughable. Someone who has failed 99 times during the ‘quality checks’ of his own launch is now predicting an ‘expiry date’ for the BJP," the Union Minister said.
This comes after Rahul Gandhi, on Sunday, while addressing the Goy Rakhonn Yatra at a public rally in Margao, South Goa, said the BJP's "expiry date" is approaching. He launched a sharp attack on Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah and Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar.
The  Union Minister said that the BJP was a movement dedicated to national reconstruction and the welfare of the poor, women, youth and farmers.
He said, "The BJP is not merely a political party. It is a movement, a grand endeavour for national reconstruction. The BJP is committed to the welfare of the poor. It is a movement dedicated to the empowerment of mothers, sisters, the youth, and farmers. Many have come and gone while harbouring such thoughts."
Referring to the Emergency, Chouhan also said that those who had imposed it were defeated by the people in elections.
Chauhan said, "They even imposed an Emergency. They turned the entire country into a prison. But in the end, the people consistently defeated them in elections. The BJP will continue to grow and serve the nation.”
In a post on X on Monday, Chouhan also criticised what he described as a “regime change gang”, claiming that the BJP continued to enjoy the trust of the country’s youth, farmers and women. He said people trusted the leadership that had raised India’s standing globally and strengthened the country’s confidence.
“The reason the regime change gang is unable to succeed is that the country’s youth, farmers, sisters, daughters and mothers have faith in their leadership. The people of the country trust the leadership that has raised India’s head high before the world, taught the country to move forward with confidence and stands firm in the face of every challenge," he wrote.
Attacking the opposition, he said that the people's trust cannot be influenced by any narrative; it is built through work and commitment.
He said, “Today’s India is neither misled by false narratives, nor frightened by conspiracies, nor does it bow before thinking that weakens the country. Today, the country’s honour and the future of 1.4 billion Indians are paramount for the government. Remember, the people’s trust does not depend on any narrative. It is built through work, commitment and the integrity of leadership."
“This is the strength of New India, this is the people’s trust, and this is the wall against which the dreams of the regime change gang repeatedly crumble,” Chouhan added in the post.
