Etawah (Uttar Pradesh) [India], July 22 : A 26-year-old makeup artist died by suicide at her rented residence in Vrindavan Colony under the Civil Lines police station area in Etawah, allegedly following prolonged mental harassment by four former work associates, officials said.
The deceased, identified as Komal Mishra, recorded a final video on her mobile phone prior to taking the extreme step late Monday night. In the video, she named two women and two men, holding them directly responsible for her death while clearing her husband of any involvement.
According to her husband, Saurabh Dwivedi, Mishra had been collaborating with four individuals from Kanpur in event management and beautician work. Dwivedi alleged that the group had been mentally harassing her over unresolved matters dating back to before their marriage.
In her video recording, Mishra explicitly stated that her husband was innocent and urged authorities to take strict legal action against the four named individuals.
Dwivedi, a clerk in Etawah's Badhpura block, returned home to find his wife hanging. With assistance from neighbours, she was rushed to the district hospital, where doctors declared her dead on arrival.
Civil Lines police seized Mishra's mobile phone and digital evidence at the scene. Circle Officer (Sadar) Avneesh Kumar Singh confirmed that inquest proceedings and a post-mortem examination have been conducted.
An official case is being registered based on the husband's formal complaint (tehreer), and police are currently verifying the authenticity of the video recording to initiate further legal action.
Circle Officer (CO), Sadar, Avneesh Kumar Singh said, "On the night of July 20th, Civil Lines Police Station received information that a woman had died by suicide. Following this, the police took custody of the body and initiated inquest proceedings (panchnama) as well as the post-mortem process. A video has been brought to our notice by the deceased's husband, in which, prior to her death, the woman alleges harassment by certain individuals. Based on a formal complaint (tehreer) from the husband, a case will be registered, and further legal action will be taken. The woman has alleged harassment against a few individuals in the video. The video is currently being investigated, after which appropriate legal action will be taken."
Upon receiving the information, the Civil Lines police inspected the scene and seized the deceased's mobile phone and other evidence. The police are investigating the authenticity of the video, the allegations made in it, and other circumstances.
