Kolkata (West Bengal) [India], April 25 : West Bengal Finance Minister Chandrima Bhattacharya on Wednesday complained to the National Commission for Women seeking action against Leader of Opposition and BJP leader Suvendu Adhikari for allegedy using derogatory words, on multiple occasions, against Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee.

In a letter written to the panel chairperson on April 24, Trinmool Congress leader, Bhattacharya said, "Suvendu Adhikari, Leader of Opposition (BJP) of our state, has time and again used derogatory words & filthy remarks for our CM Mamata Banerjee. The usage of such words is not only disrespectful but also crass in nature. Mamata Banerjee is the only Chief Minister of the country and the usage of such words by Adhikari not only defames her but also disrespects women at large."
She said that despite such behaviour, no action or steps have been taken by the NCW against Adhikari.
"We are surprised as to how such irresponsible comments or statements can be dished out by a person against a woman leader & a Chief Minister. Moreover, such comments simply go unchecked without any cognizance being taken by NCW authorities," she said.
The Bengal minister urged NCW to take immediate action against BJP leader for, time and again, using derogatory words to refer Mamata Banerjee
"Do whatever is necessary to uphold the magnanimity and dignity of women," she added.
Suvendu Adhikari on Sunday called Mamata Banerjee's TMC party a party of goons that lacks support from the people.
"TMC is a party of goons. TMC is not a political party...Goons and police are with them, not the people," Adhikari said.
