"Will implement UCC in UP as well": Radha Mohan Das Agarwal on BJP's 2027 agenda following Amit Shah's Lucknow meet; slams Rahul Gandhi over Nov 1 rally
Oct 30, 2026
Lucknow (Uttar Pradesh) [India], October 30 : Following the Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) high-profile State Working Committee meeting chaired by Union Home Minister Amit Shah in Lucknow on Friday, senior party leaders have signalled a rigorous ideological and organisational campaign ahead of the 2027 Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections.
Among the key policy pledges articulated by party leadership is the implementation of the Uniform Civil Code (UCC) in Uttar Pradesh if the party is voted back to power.
Speaking to ANI after Amit Shah’s address, BJP leader Radha Mohan Das Agarwal emphasised that the visit by the Union Home Minister has profoundly invigorated the party rank and file, setting a clear trajectory for the 2027 electoral battle.
"The party workers are enthusiastic. They were already prepared; all that was needed was Amit Shah. His arrival has energised the workers. Now, nothing can halt the momentum of the BJP... He stated that once our govt returns to power, as we have already implemented the UCC in several other states, we will implement it here as well," Agarwal said.
Turning his focus to the opposition, Agarwal launched a fierce critique against Lok Sabha Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi regarding the INDIA bloc’s scheduled mega-rally at New Delhi's Ramlila Maidan on November 1. Connecting the date to historical tragedies, Agarwal accused the Congress leadership of insensitivity.
"Rahul Gandhi is conspiring against the nation. He wants to remind the people of this country of the date, November 1st. The nation has not forgotten that day; thousands of Sikhs were massacred on November 1st. November 1st should have been a day of mourning for India. Yet, the perpetrators responsible for that tragedy were the very people, the mother, father, and 'godfathers', of Rahul Gandhi himself. It is utterly shameless that he now seeks to evoke those memories once again and hurt the sentiments," Agarwal alleged.
State Minister Anil Rajbhar lauded Amit Shah’s political acumen, viewing his address as a decisive morale booster for party workers striving to secure a historic third consecutive term.
"The country's greatest political strategist, a man whose strategic acumen is acknowledged by the entire world, has today openly declared that nothing can stop the BJP from forming the govt for a third consecutive term. The morale of the BJP's party workers has soared to new heights. His address and the guidance he provided today were such that, I believe, every single party worker leaving this working committee meeting will depart with a firm resolve. No one can defeat the BJP in UP," Rajbhar told ANI.
Echoing this confidence, State Minister Danish Azad Ansari attributed the party's anticipated success to a combination of central leadership, organisational groundwork, and public trust in the 'double-engine' governance model.
"HM Amit Shah has initiated this process, and we are fully confident that, through his strategy, the visionary leadership of PM Modi and CM Yogi, the hard work of our party workers, and the trust of the public, the BJP's 'double-engine' govt will return to power in UP in 2027 with an overwhelming majority," Ansari stated.
The State Working Committee meeting in Lucknow concluded on Friday, effectively laying down the organisational roadmap and ideological markers for the BJP's upcoming campaign for the 2027 Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections.
