New Delhi [India], August 24 : The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MP Kangana Ranaut on Monday hit back at prominent film industry figures and yoga guru Baba Ramdev, addressing the media at Delhi Airport.
Calling her detractors "failed" and "irrelevant," Ranaut asserted she would not take advice from those who have not matched her professional achievements.
Dismissing her critics as seekers of media attention, Ranaut singled out several individuals, "Every day, I see people like Ashutosh Rana--who says I bark like a dog--or the likes of Sonu Sood. Then there are people like Rakhi Sawant, who make all sorts of remarks about my character, and Taapsee Pannu, who insults my parents, my upbringing, and my background. I have just one message for these people: if you haven't achieved even one per cent of the success I have in life, I am not going to listen to you. These are all failed, completely irrelevant people who constantly hurl abuse at me just to get media attention... I will not tolerate these remarks."
Turning her attention to Baba Ramdev, Ranaut criticised his remarks regarding women, stating he had violated societal boundaries:
"As for Baba Ramdev, he has crossed every boundary of decency; the kind of comments he has made about a woman have shamed society... Given the remarks he makes about women, I think he really needs to reflect on his perspective regarding them."
The recent flare-up follows controversy surrounding Ranaut's "Generation Gutter" remarks, which she used while criticising protesters at Jantar Mantar. Her comments drew widespread backlash across the entertainment industry and public life:
Figures like Sonu Sood advised restraint in public speech, while Rakhi Sawant posted video critiques.
Longstanding tensions with actors Taapsee Pannu and Ashutosh Rana resurfaced amidst the ongoing debates over her statements.
Yoga guru Baba Ramdev had also publicly objected to her calling the younger generation "gutter", prompting a direct exchange between the two.
Ranaut, who represents Himachal Pradesh's Mandi Lok Sabha constituency, has previously been involved in several public exchanges with personalities from the entertainment industry. Her latest remarks reflect her continued criticism of what she describes as personal attacks and attempts to gain publicity by targeting her.
The actor-turned-politician has often spoken openly about her experiences in the film industry and her disagreements with fellow actors and public figures.
