Telangana: BRS to launch week-long campaign against Congress' '1,000-day betrayal' from Sept 2
Aug 23, 2026
Hyderabad (Telangana) [India], August 24 : The Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) has launched a major statewide campaign to expose what it describes as the Congress government's betrayal of the people as it completes 1,000 days in office.
According to the release, the party will organise a series of innovative programmes across Telangana for a week from September 2, highlighting the alleged failure of the Congress government to fulfil its promises and the problems faced by different sections of society.
BRS Working President KT Rama Rao (KTR) issued detailed directions to senior party leaders, elected representatives and the state committee during a teleconference. He called upon the entire BRS organisation to unite and ensure that the alleged failures of the Congress government during its 1,000-day tenure are taken to every section of the people across the State, as stated in the release.
KTR said the Congress came to power after making numerous promises to the people, including 420 promises, 13 declarations and six guarantees, assuring them that these commitments would be implemented within 100 days.
However, even after 1,000 days in office, the Congress government had failed to fully fulfil even a single promise, he alleged. He called upon BRS leaders and workers to expose what he described as the Congress's betrayal and failure before the people.
KTR said people across Telangana were deeply unhappy with the Congress government's alleged administrative failures, corruption and misgovernance. He directed the party cadre to explain to the people how the Congress government had failed them and to highlight its policies, administrative failures and alleged irregularities.
The programmes from September 2 should not be confined merely to the promises made by Congress, he said. They should also highlight the failures of the government after assuming office and the problems currently being faced by different sections of society.
KTR called upon the party to once again take the pending commitments made to different sections of society to the people through "Baaki Cards", highlighting the benefits and financial assistance that were promised but allegedly remain unpaid.
He said the cards should remind people of the amounts that have accumulated as pending payments under the monthly financial assistance promised to agricultural labourers, senior citizens, women, students and youth.
KTR alleged that the Congress government had deceived everyone from farmers to women after coming to power. He called upon the party cadre to place before the people the promises made to each section, the alleged failures in implementing them, the benefits that were supposed to reach them and the pending dues.
KTR alleged failure of the Congress government to clear more than ₹12,000 crore in fee reimbursement dues. He said this should be highlighted among students and their parents across colleges. He called for the issue to be taken to every college and brought into wider public discussion, given its impact on students and their education.
He also alleged that the Congress government had failed to provide jobs to the youth and had not fulfilled its promises. KTR recalled that the BRS had already exposed the alleged betrayal of the youth through the meeting held at Saroornagar and the Yuva Sangrama Sadassu.
As part of the campaign marking 1,000 days of Congress rule, the party should once again highlight the alleged failures of the government towards the youth, he said.
KTR called for special programmes to be organised for every section to which the Congress had made promises, including auto drivers, women, farmers, tribals, Dalits, BCs, government employees and retired employees.
He said the party should meet each section separately and explain the alleged failures of the Congress government in a manner that people could easily understand. The programmes should not follow a uniform format, but should instead be designed around the specific problems faced by each section, he said.
KTR suggested that different programmes be conducted over the seven-day period, with party leaders meeting women, farmers, youth, students, Dalits, BCs, tribals and other sections in the constituencies. Along with unfulfilled promises, the current problems faced by these sections should also be prominently highlighted during the programmes.
KTR said the campaign should not be restricted merely to unfulfilled promises. The party should remind people of the number of sectors in which the government had allegedly failed during its 1,000 days in office and highlight what he described as its "utterly failed administration".
He called upon the BRS cadre to identify the problems troubling the people and expose the government's alleged failures in addressing them.
"Not just the promises, but the failures of the first 100 days and how much of a failure the Revanth Reddy government has been from the very beginning must also be highlighted on a large scale," KTR said. He called for the gap between the promises made by the Congress and its actual governance to be clearly explained to the people.
KTR said the programmes should be designed in a manner that effectively reaches the younger generation. He called for special attention to social media to take the alleged failures of the Congress government during its 1,000 days to the people.
Social media should be used as a powerful weapon, with innovative campaigns and communication formats developed to ensure that the alleged failures of the Congress government reach the younger generation, he said.
KTR called upon MPs, MLAs, MLCs, party general secretaries, constituency in-charges, former public representatives, former corporation chairpersons and former Zilla Parishad chairpersons, along with leaders at all levels, to participate in the week-long programmes.
He directed the party cadre to mobilise at every constituency, mandal headquarters, village and ward and expose the alleged failures of the Congress government. The campaign should have a visible presence across the State and should not be reduced to symbolic programmes conducted by a few leaders.
KTR urged the party cadre to conduct the programmes in as innovative a manner as possible and bring the government's alleged failures before the people through different formats. He called upon BRS leaders and workers to use their creativity and organisational strength to ensure that the message reaches people at the grassroots across Telangana.
