"These 'Cockroaches' want to halt India's momentum": BJP Ministers launch attack on INDIA bloc at Kolkata's 'Loktantra Bachao' march

Kolkata (West Bengal) [India], November 2 : BJP national president Nitin Nabin, West Bengal Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari and state BJP chief Samik Bhattacharya on Monday led the party's 'Loktantra Bachao, Arajakta Hatao' (Save Democracy, Remove Anarchy) march in Kolkata.
The march witnessed a large participation of BJP workers and supporters, with national flags prominently displayed throughout the procession.
While speaking to ANI at the rally, West Bengal Minister Ajay Kumar Poddar alleged that foreign powers and opposition parties were working together to obstruct India's progress under Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Targeting the INDIA bloc, he accused its constituents of attempting to disrupt the country's development and political momentum.
“All foreign powers want to halt India’s momentum. They are all in cahoots. These ‘cockroaches’—everyone associated with the INDI Alliance—their sole objective is to figure out how to stop India. They cannot tolerate the direction in which PM Modi has been steering the country over the last twelve years. These are all anti-national forces...," Poddar said.
West Bengal Minister Arjun Singh also launched a sharp attack on former Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee over her recent remarks, accusing her of making statements out of frustration. He also targeted Congress leader Rahul Gandhi while commenting on the political relationship between the opposition leaders.
“Her mind is not working. Things are not unfolding the way she wants, so, out of sheer frustration, she is lashing out at others. Mamata Banerjee would not be able to win even a municipal election in this lifetime—as for the next life, who knows?... Rahul Gandhi was a 'Pappu', he still is, and he always will be. It makes no difference whether Mamata Banerjee clings to the feet of Rahul Gandhi or those of Pakistan—the outcome will remain the same...," Singh said.
Meanwhile, BJP MLA Debasish Dhar alleged that opposition parties were attempting to create a narrative against the country's constitutional framework and internal and external security. Referring to the BJP's campaign, he said the party was receiving widespread public support and would continue its efforts to reach people.
“Opposition parties—acting as agents of the 'deep state' (an invisible power structure)—are attempting to construct a narrative that could undermine our Constitution, as well as our internal and external security... We are garnering support on a large scale and aim to convey a message to the public. This is no trivial matter; the message will reach every individual, and our efforts will continue even after this,” Dhar said.
Reacting to remarks by TMC leaders Abhishek Banerjee and Mamata Banerjee concerning the police, Dhar defended the ongoing investigations and action against corruption, challenging those facing allegations to cooperate with the investigative process.
“The police are simply conducting necessary investigations and taking action against corruption—this is only natural. If they have the courage, they should face the investigation...," he said.
BJP spokesperson Debjit Sarkar also criticised the TMC leadership over its remarks concerning the police and the political situation in West Bengal. He claimed that the people of the state were aware of the political developments and the manner in which elections had been conducted in the past. He further asserted that the opposition would not be able to return to power through any indirect political arrangement.
“No one is, because the awakened public of West Bengal knows exactly who does what, and how they used to win elections. Whatever they are saying now—after the elections—holds no weight. They will not be able to ascend to power through any back door...," Sarkar said.
Commenting on a statement by AJUP leader Humayun Kabir, Sarkar launched a personal attack and said that such remarks reflected a misunderstanding of the present political situation in the state.
“He needs treatment for both his body and his mind. This is not the Mughal Empire! A nationalist government is firmly established here. He seems to have forgotten that the person leading the government here is Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari...," Sarkar said.
The BJP's march comes a day after Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi, while addressing a mega rally organised by the INDIA bloc at Ramlila Maidan in New Delhi, said that Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar would be removed from his post and jailed, while accusing him of facilitating alleged vote theft in the country.
