Balochistan [Pakistan], August 29 : Allegations of enforced disappearance and an extrajudicial killing have intensified criticism of Pakistan's handling of missing persons in Balochistan, with rights groups demanding answers from state authorities, as reported by The Balochistan Post.
According to The Balochistan Post, Sardil Sherkhan, a resident of Shadi Kaor in Pasni, was taken by Military Intelligence personnel on November 22, 2025. His family reportedly remained without information about his whereabouts for around six months.
On May 30, 2026, Sherkhan's family was informed that his body had been recovered from a remote location. Instead of the return they had awaited, the family received news of his death. The circumstances surrounding both his disappearance and death remain unclear.
The Baloch Yakjehti Committee (BYC) described the incident as an extrajudicial killing and alleged that enforced disappearances, targeted killings and staged encounters continue to affect different parts of Balochistan.
The group called for an independent investigation into Sherkhan's disappearance, alleged detention and death, while urging international rights organisations and independent observers to examine the allegations.
A protest camp organised by the Voice for Baloch Missing Persons (VBMP) remained active outside the Quetta Press Club, where families of missing people continue to seek information and accountability.
During the protest, Khan Mohammad submitted the case of his son, Mohammad Riaz Satakzai, to the VBMP. He alleged that Riaz was detained by Pakistani state personnel at the Daghari FC checkpoint in Mastung district on May 5 while travelling from Quetta towards Daghari in a van, as highlighted by The Balochistan Post.
Khan Mohammad said he had approached senior Frontier Corps officials seeking his son's release, but Riaz has reportedly not been recovered and the family has received no information about his whereabouts.
The prolonged uncertainty, he said, has caused severe distress to the family.
VBMP Chairman Nasrullah Baloch said the organisation would submit Riaz's case to relevant commissions and government authorities and pursue it through available forums, as reported by The Balochistan Post.
