Piyush Goyal holds bilateral talks with his Brazil, Egypt counterparts on sidelines of BRICS India 2026, discusses trade, investment cooperation

Jaipur (Rajasthan) [India], August 7 : Union Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal held separate bilateral meetings with his counterparts from Brazil and Egypt on the sidelines of the BRICS India 2026 Trade and Industry Ministers' Meeting in Jaipur, discussing ways to deepen trade, investment and sectoral cooperation.
Posting about the meeting on X, Goyal said they reviewed avenues to strengthen economic engagement between the two countries.
"Held a meeting with Mr. Marcio Fernando Elias Rosa, Minister of Development, Industry, Trade and Services of Brazil, on the sidelines of the #BRICSIndia2026 Trade and Industry Ministers' Meeting. We discussed ways to further strengthen our trade and economic partnership and explored opportunities for cooperation in agriculture, energy, and pharmaceuticals. We also reaffirmed our shared commitment to deepening the India-Brazil trade and investment partnership," Goyal wrote on Thursday.

In a separate post, the Union Minister said he also met Egypt's Minister of Industry, Khaled Hashem Ali Maher, to discuss expanding economic cooperation.
"Delighted to meet Mr. Khaled Hashem Ali Maher, Egypt's Minister of Industry, on the sidelines of the Trade and Industry Ministers' Meeting of #BRICSIndia2026. Discussed expanding economic cooperation and exploring joint opportunities with strong complementarities and huge opportunities between our great nations," Goyal wrote.

The meetings took place as the Tenth BRICS Industry Ministers' Meeting concluded successfully under India's BRICS Chairship 2026 in Jaipur.
Held under the theme "Building for Resilience, Innovation, Cooperation and Sustainability," the ministerial meeting brought together industry ministers and senior representatives from BRICS member countries to discuss strengthening industrial capabilities, technological transformation and collaborative growth.
According to the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, one of the key outcomes of the meeting was the adoption of the Joint Declaration of the Tenth BRICS Industry Ministers' Meeting, reflecting the collective commitment of member countries to translate dialogue into practical cooperation.
India also highlighted progress made under its BRICS Chairship through the Partnership on New Industrial Revolution (PartNIR), including the finalisation of the Framework for Cooperation in the SME Working Group, adoption of the Terms of Reference and Action Plan for the Photovoltaic Industry Working Group, and an innovation-led growth action plan for startups.
India is also hosting the 16th BRICS Trade Ministers' Meeting in Jaipur on August 7, with discussions focused on strengthening the multilateral trading system, resilient supply chains, MSME participation in global trade and digital economic cooperation.
