Politics of division for minority appeasement: Vijayendra slams Congress govt in Karnataka

Kolar (Karnataka) [India], October 1 : Karnataka BJP president BY Vijayendra has accused Congress government of indulging in divide-and-rule politics by celebrating an Urdu festival on the steps of Vidhana Soudha when Kannada should be reigning supreme there.
Speaking in Kolar, Vijayendra said the Congress government led by Chief Minister DK Shivakumar is taking such decisions with the intention of appeasing minorities.
"When the Central Government proposed the three-language formula, the Congress government misled the people claiming that Hindi is being imposed on children. But now, by celebrating an Urdu festival on the steps of Vidhana Soudha in place of Kannada, the government has exposed its own stand," he said.
Vijayendra alleged that instead of taking strict action against those who raised 'Pakistan Zindabad' slogans in Vidhana Soudha, Congress government is protecting them.
"BJP is not against minorities. The Central Government led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi is working with the vision of inclusive development and equal opportunity for all. Along with giving schemes to minorities, development schemes should reach every section of society, including Hindus equally," he said.
He said if the government indulges in politics that divides society instead of giving priority to development works in the state, people of the state will give a befitting reply through their verdict in the upcoming elections.
Vijayendra said there are allegations that during the SIR process, Muslim voters were gathered in mosques and marriage halls at some places, and officials were made to sit there itself to add names to the voters list. BJP workers and others in various Assembly constituencies are bringing such irregularities to the notice of the Election Commission.
"There is nothing wrong in requesting the Election Commission to verify and delete names suspected to have been added illegally. If the name is correct, the Election Commission will retain it; if it is illegal, it will be removed. Ultimately, it is the Election Commission that has to take the decision," Vijayendra clarified.
He alleged that those who cannot stop the popularity of Prime Minister Narendra Modi are carrying out propaganda against the Election Commission.
He said complaints have also been received that names of illegal Bangladeshi immigrants have been added to the voters list in some constituencies of the state. There is no crime in bringing such allegations to the notice of the Election Commission for verification. He said he is not scared even if any FIR or threat comes against him in this matter.
Speaking in Bangarpet, Vijayendra demanded that the State Government should put an end to the irregularities happening in KPSC for many years.
He said youth prepare hard for years for examinations with the dream of getting a government job. But due to irregularities and confusion in the examination system, a situation has arisen where their hard work does not get due reward.
He said closing KPSC will not solve the problem. Instead, complete transparency, credibility, and accountability should be ensured in the examination system. The State Government should build a system that does justice to the hard work done by youth for years, Vijayendra demanded.
