New Delhi [India], October 12 : The much-awaited Ramleela celebrations organised by the Lav Kush Ramlila Committee commenced in the national capital, bringing the grandeur of India’s rich cultural and mythological heritage to life.
The event features captivating performances depicting key episodes from the epic Ramayana, blending traditional storytelling, elaborate costumes and dramatic stage presentations.
Arjun Kumar, president of the Lav Kush Ramlila Committee, shared details about the performances, highlighting the key attractions and the preparations undertaken to make this year’s Ramleela a memorable experience for audiences.
"Delhi is immersed in the spirit of Lord Ram. Today, the worship of Lord Ganesha was performed by Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla and the MP from the Chandni Chowk constituency, Praveen Khandelwal... The Lav Kush Ramleela Committee features artists from the film industry portraying characters like Ram, Lakshman, Sita, Kevat, and Narad; notably, Manoj Tiwari is also participating and will play the role of Kevat this year... The performances will continue until October 20th—Dussehra—with the burning of the effigies of Ravana, Kumbhakarna, and Meghnad," he told ANI.
Kumar, while speaking of the preparations, further added, "We are using a digital sound system. 3D mapping technology has been employed; for this, cranes will be installed on both sides of the stage. These cranes will hold two chariots—one carrying Lord Ram’s army and the other Ravana’s army—so that when their swords clash face-to-face, sparks will fly... We have created an immersive experience using AI technology—incorporating 3D mapping, depth projection (DOP), and advanced sound and lighting systems."
BJP MP Praveen Khandelwal also opened up on the commencement of Ramleela, saying, "From today, the divine plays of Lord Shri Ram are beginning in Delhi. For centuries, the divine plays of Lord Shri Ram have been witnessed in Delhi and across the entire country... In essence, everyone benefits from the life of Lord Shri Ram, his righteousness, and his philosophy. We all draw inspiration from him. Today, with Ganesh Puja, the Lav-Kush Ramleela Committee has commenced this..."
Actor Vindu Dara Singh, who took part in 'Ayodhya Ki Ramleela, 2026', said, "It was Bobby Malik who first brought me to a Ramlila—I believe it was the Luv Kush Ramlila. That was many years ago... It feels like Ramlilas are happening in every single street now, even on a smaller scale... The Ayodhya Ramlila is a different experience altogether."
Actor Arun Bakshi added, "I am very lucky to have such an iconic role of Ravana... After reaching the depths of this role, I believe that a Ravana resides in everyone... Yesterday's show was very good..."
