Guwahati (Assam) [India], July 9 : Assam Congress president Gaurav Gogoi on Thursday accused the BJP-led governments in the Northeast of failing to resolve long-pending inter-state boundary disputes.
He also slammed the North-East Democratic Alliance (NEDA) and Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma.
"As the chief of NEDA, North-East Democratic Alliance: a group of NDA CMs, Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma was the convener and inter-state boundary issues is one of the most important issues. But for the past so many years, they have paid zero interest to this issue. The only interest they have paid is how much land can big corporates take, land which belong to tribals, to Scheduled Castes. That has been the only concern. But how to resolve the boundary issues, that has not been important," he told ANI.
"Home Minister Amit Shah has visited the northeast so many times. But this issue remains unresolved as a result of which in the boundary areas, there is a lot of conflict...This is completely the failure of NEDA and its shows that the BJP actually has zero interest of solving this most important issue," he added.
