Keralam Police forms SIT to probe irregularities in State Public Service Commission exam

Thiruvananthapuram (Keralam) [India], July 9 :
According to Keralam Police, the SIT will be headed by Inspector General of Police S Ajeetha Begum.
The case is linked to the irregularities in the evaluation of the Kerala Public Service Commission (PSC) examination conducted for Chief-level posts in the State Planning Board. The police are also probing the recent allegations related to the conduct of PSC examinations.
Keralam Home Department issued an order entrusting the Crime Branch with the investigation.
The Keralam Police order stated, "As per the GO read above, the Government have directed the Crime Branch to conduct a comprehensive enquiry into the recent allegations regarding irregularities in the examinations conducted by the Kerala Public Service Commission. Considering the gravity of the allegations and the importance of ensuring prompt enquiry, it is decided to constitute a Special Investigation Team (SIT) with immediate effect, under the chairmanship of S Ajeetha Begum, IPS, Inspector General of Police, Economic Offence Wing Headquarters, Thiruvananthapuram."
The SIT will also include Superintendent of Police Zacharia Mathew and DSP Ajayanath G.
"The Special Investigation Team shall comprise the following members for conducting a detailed and expeditious investigation into the aforementioned allegations: Zacharia Mathew, Supdt. of Police, NRI Cell, PHQ, and Ajayanath G, Dy SP, Crime Branch Headquarters," the order stated.
"The Special Investigation Team (SIT) shall function under the direct supervision of the Additional Director General of Police, Crime Branch. The SIT shall expedite the investigation of the above matter and submit a fortnightly progress report to PHQ without fail. The Additional Director General of Police, Crime Branch, may co-opt other officers or personnel into the Special Investigation Team (SIT) as may be considered necessary for ensuring the effective and sustained investigation of the case," the police order read.
