MP: Woman pours boiling water on husband during domestic dispute in Gwalior; police register case

Gwalior (Madhya Pradesh) [India], June 30 : A domestic dispute between a couple in Madhya Pradesh's Gwalior district turned violent after a woman allegedly poured boiling water on her husband, leaving him with burn injuries, a police officer said on Tuesday.
The incident occurred in the Pichhor Tiraha locality under the jurisdiction of Dabra City police station in the district on the afternoon of June 27. The man's father also sustained burns while trying to intervene.
Additional Superintendent of Police (Rural) Jayraj Kuber said the complainant, identified as 30-year-old Bhupendra Singh Kushwaha, approached the police alleging that his wife had thrown hot water on him during an altercation.
"The matter pertains to Dabra City police station in which a complainant, Bhupendra Singh Kushwaha, (30), reported that his wife threw hot water on him. The couple had been involved in a dispute, and on the day of the incident, the woman's family members had come to counsel them. After the discussion, she remained at home. Her husband came in an inebriated state and assaulted her. At that time, water was being heated on an induction stove to prepare dal. The woman picked up the vessel containing the boiling water and poured it on him, causing burn injuries," ASP Kuber told ANI.
The man sustained injuries to his waist and legs. Along with this, his father, who was standing nearby, also suffered burns on his legs while trying to intervene, the officer said.
ASP Kuber further added that a case has been registered against the woman in the matter and further investigation is underway.
According to the information, the couple had been facing frequent disputes since their marriage. The woman alleged that her husband was addicted to alcohol and used to physically assault and harass her regularly. On the day of the incident, the man again repeated the same and their argument escalated into violence, following which she allegedly poured boiling water on him.
