Hyderabad (Telangana) [India], June 30 : A Special Court for MPs/MLAs in Hyderabad on Tuesday acquitted BJP MLA T Raja Singh in a 2022 case registered under various sections of the IPC related to alleged remarks on religious sentiments.
The case was registered under Sections 153A(a)(b), 295A, 504, 505(2) and 506 of the IPC.
Speaking to ANI, Singh said he has been acquitted by a Special Court for MPs/MLAs in a 2022 case related to alleged remarks on religious sentiments, claiming that false cases were registered against him under pressure from political parties.
He asserted that he has faith in the judiciary and will be acquitted in other pending cases as well.
"A case was registered against me in 2022, alleging that I had made comments about someone's deity; under pressure from the AIMIM, the then BRS government and police invoked the PD Act (Preventive Detention Act) and kept me in jail for approximately 77 days. Today, the judgment in that very case has been delivered. We had faith in the judiciary. I have been acquitted in that case, a stance I had maintained from the very beginning, asserting that I never made any comments that would hurt anyone's religious sentiments regarding their gods or goddesses," he told ANI.
"The then BRS government, yielding to AIMIM pressure, twisted the narrative and had false cases registered against me at multiple police stations... Several fake cases have also been registered against me during the tenure of the current Congress government, and I am confident that I will be acquitted in each of those cases as well," he further said.
Advocate Karunasagar said that the court found no grounds to proceed after examining witnesses and evidence in the matter in a 2022 case registered by Mangalhat Police Station.

"Today the Special MP/MLA Court has acquitted MLA Raja Singh from the 2022 case, which was registered by PS Mangalat for allegedly commenting on the life of Prophet Muhammad. The complainant in the case has himself admitted that the alleged verses were having reference to the Islamic literature... The court after going through all the witnesses and evidence on hand, has approved that the case has not been made out against MLA Raja Singh and has acquitted him," Karunasagar said.
